1487-ben Rechenijed néven jelentkezik az okiratokban. (C. Suciu: Dicţionar istoric.) 1567-ben a regestrum 11 kapuval jegyzi. (SZOKL. II. 218.) 1602-ben már Recsenyéd (C. Suciu: i. m.) a neve.
Középkori templomról nincs adat.
Lakói azonban tiszta katolikusok voltak, akik a reformáció idején unitáriusok lettek.
