Szabolcs vármegye nemes családai sorába számitatik. E családból született Nádudvaron 1763. jul. 15-én a hires jogtudós, és sárospataki jgotanár Kövy Sándor, ki 1829. jul. 23-án halt meg. Több magyar jogi munkát adott ki.
