korreláció, kulturális: a kultúra egyes elemei (vonásai, részei, intézményei) közötti kölcsönös összefüggés, viszony. Az etnológiában a korrelációs-statisztikai vizsgálatokat E. B. Taylor indította meg, összefüggéseket keresve a házassági formák és a leszármazási rend szabályai között; L. T. Hobhouse gazdasági típusok és társadalmi intézmények korrelációs vizsonyát vizsgálta, míg újabban G. P. Murdock széles körű etnológiai anyag alapján a különféle társadalmi intézmények közötti kapcsolódást kutatja statisztikai-matematikai módszerekkel. – Irod. Tylor, E.
