Wirth Miksa, német közgazda, szül. Boroszlóban 1822 febr. 27. Jogot végzett, mely után Der Arbeitgeber c. hetilapot alapította M. m. Frankfurtban. 1865-73. a svájci statisztikai hivatal igazgatója, jelenleg Bécsben él. Megjelent tőle: Grundzüge der Nationalökonomie (Köln 1855-73, 4 köt.); Geschichte d. Handelskrisen (M. m. Frankfurt 1890); Ernste u. frohe Tage aus meinen Erlebnissen (u. o. 1884); Ungarn und seine Bodenschätze (M. m. Frankfurt 1885); Die Quellen des Reichtums (Stuttgarrt 1886); Die Notenbankfrage in Beziehung zur Währungsreform in Österreich-Ungarn (M. m. Frankfurt 1894). Felesége W. Bettina, családi nevén Greiner, német irónő, szül. Münchenben 1849 febr. 7. Számos novellát és regényt irt angolul és németül; említendők: Künstler u. Fürstendkind (Stuttgart 1876); Hohe Lose (Lipcse 1883) stb.
