Williams (ejtsd: villjemsz) Monier, angol orientálista, szül Bombayban 1819 nov. 12-én. 1846. tanár Haileyburyben az East India Collegeen, 1860. az oxfordi egyetemen a szánszkrit nyelv tanára. Munkái: Grammar of Sanscrit (Oxford 1857, 4. kiad. 1877); Sanscrit manual (2. köt., u. o. 1862-68); A Sanscrit-English dictionary (London 1872); Indian wisdom (u. o. 1876); Modern India and the Indians (1887); Brahmanism and Hinduism (u. o. 1887); Buddhism (u. o. 1889); Rudiments of the Hindustani (1850).
