Wellhausen
Wellhausen Gyula, német protestáns teologus, orientálista, szül. Hamelnben 1844 máj. 17-én. 1872. teologiai tanár a greifswaldi egyetemen, 1882. a bölcsészet rendkivüli tanára a hallei, 1887. rendes tanár a marburgi, 1892. a göttingai egyetemeken. Nagy fetünést keltett az ótestamentom és a zsidók történetéről kiadott tudományos buvárlatainak eredménye. Megjelent tőle: De gentibus et familiis judaeis (Göttinga 1871); Die Pharisäer und Sadduzäer (Greifswald 1874); Prolegomena zur Geschichte Israels (3. kiad. Berlin 1886); Mohammed in Medina (u. o. 1882); Skizzen und Vorarbeiten (3 füz., 1884-92); Israelitische und jüdische Geschichte (von 1894-95, újabb kiad. 1897).
