Lander
Lander (ejtsd: lender) Rikárd, angol utazó, szül. Corwallban 1804 febr. 8., megh. Fernando Póban 1834 febr. 16. 1825. Clapperton kisérője volt annak Szokotóba tett utazásán. 1830. testvérével, Jánossal (szül. 1807., megh. 1839.) az angol kormány megbizásából kikutatta a Nigernek addig ismeretlen alsó folyását. Kalandor utazásának leirása: Journal of an expedition to explore the course and termination of the Niger (London 1833). 1832. harmadik utazásán megsebesült és meghalt. Ezen útjának leirása Laird és Oldfields Narrative of an expedition into the interior of Africa by the river Niger (u. o. 1837, 3 köt., 2 kiad. 1856).
