Croker (ejtsd: krok'r), 1. Crofton Tamás, ír népregék gyüjtője, szül. Corkban 1798 jan. 15., meghalt Old Bromptonban 1854 aug. 8. Munkái: Researches in the south of Ireland (1824); Fairy legends and traditions of the south of Ireland (London 1827, uj kiad. 1882); Legends of the lakes (2 köt. U. o. 1828); Barney Mahonye (u. o. 1842); My Village (u. o. 1832); Popular songs of Ireland (u. o. 1839); A Kerry pastoral (u. o. 1844). Kiadta még Holtnak, az 1798-iki ir forradalomnak Memoires-jait (2 köt. U. o. 1838).
2. C Wilson János, angol politikus és iró, szül. Galwaysban 1780 dec. 20., megh. Hamptonban 1857 aug. 10. 1802 óta mint ügyvéd működött Dublinban, 1807. A parlamentbe választották, hol a tory-minisztérium pártjára állott. 1830 ót kilépvén az állami szolgálatból, harcolt a reformbill ellen, valamint a katolikusok emancipálása ellen, s 1832., midőn a reformbillt mégis keresztülvitték, egészen a magánéletbe vonult vissza. C. a Quarterly Review-nak egyik legszellemesebb, de kiméletlen szatirája miatt legrettegettebb kiritkusa volt. Munkái: Familiar Epistles (London 1803); An intercepted letter form China (1805); A skech of the state of Ireland (1807); The songs of Talavera (1806) és The battle of Talavera (költem., 1809).Stories from the history of England c. műve Scott Walternek mintául sozlgált Tales of a grandfather c. elbeszélései megirásánál.
