Canina
Canina Lajos, lovag ol. építő, archeologus és iró, szül. Casaleban 1795 okt. 25., megh. Firenzében 1856 okt. 17. Torinóban tanult, ahol később a művészeti akadémián tanár lett. 1839. ő vezette a tusculumi és 1848. a via appia-i ásatásokat, valamint a Rómában lévő régi forum helyreállításának munkálatát. Művei közül felemlítjük: Indicazione topografica di Roma antica (Róma 1831, 1841); L'architettura antica descritta e dimostrata coi monumenti (u. o. 1832 1834, 6 köt.); Esposizione storico-topografica del foro romano (u. o. 1834, 1845); Storia e topografia di Roma antica a sua campagna (u. o. 1839-48, 6 köt., 1856); Ricerche sull' architettura piů propria dei tempi cristiani (u. o. 1843, 1846); L'antica cittá di Veji (u. o. 1847); Sull' Etruria marittima (u. o. 1847-50, 2 köt.); Gli edifizi di Roma (u. o. 1849-52, 2 köt.).
