Burnett Frances Eliza Hodgson, amerikai írónő, szül. Angliában Manchesterben 1849 nov. 24. Fiatalon Amerikába költözött. Regényei: Lass o' Lowries (1877); Haworths (1879); Louisiana (1880); Sara Crewe (1888); The pretty Sister of José (1889); Vagabondia (novella-gyüjtemény, 1889), s a nagy sikert ért Little Lord Fauntleroy (1886). Nixie c. drámáját sikerrel hozták szinre 1890.
