Bachet Gáspár, sieur de Méziriac, francia matematikus, szül. Bourg-en-Bresse-ben 1581-ben megh. u. o. 1638-ban. XIII. Lajos mellé tanítónak ajánlották, de a szerény fériú a fővárosból szülőhelyére ment, hol boldog házasságra lépett. Tőle való Diophantés aritmetikájának első eredeti kiadása saját jegyzeteivel (Páris 1621 ). Főműve: Problemes plaisants et délectables, qui se font par les nombres (Lyon 1613, 5. kiad. Labosne-tól, Páris 1884.
