Abbot (ejtsd: ebbat), 1. A. György, anglikánus főpap, szül. 1526., megh. 1633. Canterburyi érsek volt, s azon fáradozott, hogy a skót egyházat az anglikánussal egyesítse. - 2. A. Róbert, emennek az öcscse, szül. 1560. megh. 1617. Salisburyi püspök volt és I. Jakab király kedvelt embere. «De suprema potestate regia» (London 1616) címü munkát irt. 3. A. Károly, lord Colchester, l. Colchester.
