Massive digitization of documents, publication

Mass-production is possible with a new technology, which is called double-layer pdf (searchable facsimile). With the help of this we are able to publish huge amount of documents. The essence of this technolgy is the digitization of the original document (book, journal, etc.) as a picture. After scanning it with the help of an automatic optical character recognition program (OCR) we produce text from the picture. The upper, visible layer of the created document is the picture itself, the layer underneath is the text. The last one is not visible. The text fully covers the picture. Under the image of the words and letters you can find the text with millimeter precision. The quality of the produced text is reaching the 98-99% even in case of ancient documents from the 19 century. The created files are appropriate for the authentic representation, as the image of the original document is visible and the text is searchable on the other hand. An important part of the former mentioned is the search function in the full text. With the help of this we can search for a word or expression. Further we have the opportunity to copy and paste any part of the text into our own text editor.

Topographical projects

In the last period we digitized the whole Hungarian map collection (especially Military Survey and Cadastral maps). For the effective and high-standard publication we use an own-developed geoinformatic system (GeoView). By georeferencing, the historical maps can be inserted into other geoinformatic system. That manner our historical maps can be compared with other historical or even with contemporary maps.
